Tom Wakefield

I was born in Southwest Arkansas in 1940. I accepted Christ as Lord and Savior at age 14 and was baptized into the membership of North Temple Baptist Church in Dallas. I married Jill Skelton at Boyles Baptist in Birmingham, Alabama in 1966. I joined LHBC in 1969, was elected Deacon in 1979, and served a term as Chairman. I was elected as an elder when the church chose to move to an elder-led form of leadership in 2019. I have been blessed to serve on LHBC building programs and several mission trips to Colombia, including trips with water and medical teams to remote indigenous tribes.

Jill and I have served as directors of several Sunday School departments and committees over the years. Jill has served as Decorating Chairman since the mid 1970s.

We have three daughters, two grandsons and two granddaughters. Our daughter Shannon has special needs and lives at home. Bethany and Bliss are identical twins and live around the corner from each other in Fairview, Texas.

Iā€™m a country boy from a cattle operation who enjoys reading, fellowship, and outdoor sports. I am in my element hunting and fishing with friends and family.
