Pastoral Care

One of the primary ways our pastors serve the church is through the ministry of pastoral care. Pastoral care is the personal application of the gospel to the lives of God’s people in every season. Our pastors are available to our members to provide comfort, counsel, and prayer in times of both joy and sorrow. Whether rejoicing in God’s blessings or enduring seasons of suffering, we desire that every member be strengthened by the promises of the gospel.

Pastoral care is also shared more broadly within the life of the church through deacons and lay members that regularly visit those who are hospitalized or homebound. In this way, the whole church takes part in sharing one another’s joys and bearing one another’s burdens.

While pastoral care is not limited to moments of crisis, we prioritize attending to the needs of those who are facing immediate, adverse circumstances. If you are facing a moment like this, there are several forms of pastoral care you may request by contacting the church office at info@lhbc.com, 214-327-7393, or our online contact form.

Prayer Requests

Prayer is central to pastoral care, and we count it a privilege to intercede on behalf of our members.

If you would like our pastors to pray for you, please contact the church office using one of the methods above. You are welcome to share as much detail as you feel comfortable. Requests will be handled with care and discretion.

Hospital Visit

Whether your hospital stay is planned or unexpected, please notify the church office as early as possible regarding your or your loved one’s hospitalization.

Hospitals do not always inform churches when members are admitted, so your communication helps us care for you well. We will make every effort to visit during your stay, to pray with you, read Scripture, and offer encouragement. We will also remember you in our ongoing prayers.

Home Visit

If you are unable to leave your home due to illness, recovery, or other circumstances and would like a pastor to visit, we would be glad to come to you.

These visits provide an opportunity for prayer, Scripture reading, encouragement, and, when appropriate, the sharing of the Lord’s Supper. They are an important way we seek to remain connected to those who cannot regularly gather with the church.

Anointing of the Sick

Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. — James 5:14

In keeping with this biblical instruction, we offer the ministry of prayer and anointing for those who are experiencing illness.

If you would like the pastors of the church to pray for you and anoint you with oil, please contact the church office. This may take place in your home, in the hospital, or in another appropriate setting.

Through this act, we entrust you into the hands of Christ, our great physician, asking for his healing.
