Personal Discipleship
Personal Discipleship
Personal discipleship is a simple but meaningful way to walk alongside someone in their early growth as a follower of Jesus. It is built on a shared commitment to know Christ more deeply by cultivating the habits of discipleship.
At its core, personal discipleship is a relationship. It brings together two believers—one more seasoned, one newer in the faith—who are both learning to follow Jesus together. The goal is not dependence on a person, but deeper dependence on Christ through the ordinary means of grace God has given His church.
The aim of personal discipleship is growth in Christlikeness. While that growth may look different from person to person, Scripture gives us a clear measure: love. A disciple is someone who is becoming more like Jesus by the work of the Spirit as they learn to love God with all their heart and to love others as themselves.
